After I stopped freaking out I thought, well, I obviously have to post about this to lj. What self-respecting geek wouldn't update their lj with this injury?
It's now over 24 hours later and I still can hardly feel the tip of my finger. I'm super hoping I don't have permanent nerve damage. I'd be mostly okay with not being able to feel that finger as long as I could still move it. Typing is okay because I do a fast version of the two finger typing method. Shifting is a little more difficult because I usually extend my pinky to hold the key and press with my index but the fingers are bandaged together.
Anyway, there are pictures under the cut, nothing gory so don't worry.

I was in so much better fooling as soon as I was all sewn up! And whatever horrible and permanent damage was going to occur already occurred and there wasn't anything that could be done...

The stitches. Peace be with you.

Then the nurse gauzed it up. Since it was down where the finger meets the palm it had to be bandaged a lot so the gauze would stay in place.
I was given 24 hours with the gauze and then I take it off, but I'm afraid to expose the stitches because I'm petrified I'm going to rip the stitches. I get the stitches out in seven to ten days...
