[ Misc ] Intelligent Slut

(no subject)

You ignorant, badly brought up female.

I've watched Doubt with three women (girlfriend, best friend and mother) and one man (my father) and my father is the only one who thought Father Flynn was innocent of all charges.

I wonder if my father is more inclined to believe the priest because they're both men. I know that I generally sympathize with other women more than men. I am always more inclined to believe a woman.

Also? I know that I could never not believe Meryl. I believe Meryl's characters no matter how mean they're supposed to be.

There are people who go after your humanity, Sister James, who tell you the light in your heart is a weakness. That your soft feelings betray you.

I was just sort of thinking that Sister Aloysius and Miranda Priestly are very alike. They're both trying to keep their heads above water in a world of men trying to keep them down. Mostly shown in Doubt. Like how Sister Aloysius says "here, there's no man I can turn to. Men run everything." Men always put women down for being soft and emotional and to make it in a world of men you have to be ruthless and cutthroat. "Never let 'em see you sweat."

Women who show emotion are thought to be weak and soft. Women who don't show emotion are thought to be cold and heartless.

Women can't win.

The details of your incompetence do not interest me.
